Currently when you have a baby here, the government gives you a $4000 "Maternity Allowance", also referred to as the "Baby Bonus".  After July 1 this year it goes up to $5000.

Anyway, I submitted the forms on Tuesday last week and payment was in our account today.

The usual time frame that they allow for payment is 28 days, so to get it in under a week is suprising, although I'm not complaining.... LOL

That was bad timing, not getting your wife to hold on until after July!! Grin

The baby bonus, is very nice.  But there are scumbags out there who are only having babies to get the bonus!
I have even read where they have the baby, put in for the bonus, and than dump the baby at the hospital.

Yeah I hear that happens...

However they restrict the younger ones to monthly payments for the bonus....
