Simple gifts
« on: June 07, 2007, 03:21:31 PM »

We all want things and ask for them for birthdays, holidays and what not. But sometimes the gifts aren't what you had hoped for.

Then someone gives you something simple that you use all the time. It may not be something you love but you do use it and appreciate it. I have gotten a couple. My Martini mixer, atomic alarm clock, and tool box to name a few. I have also received things that I wanted but no longer use. Golf bag, software, game console, hitting net, and others.

Sometimes that gift you get and you think "aw that's nice" are the gems that you keep and use the most.

My only requested gift is the annual photo sitting for my wife and daughter.

Favorite recent gift from my wife - the Crocs that I wear daily.  I'm cheap and easy.

My kids give me bookmarks they made at school.  I lose them.  They make me more.

Is good.

That can be so true.  There've been times I've asked for things that were great for a time - or even worse, weren't as good as I thought it would be.

Now, for the last few years, I usually ask for (only because certain people require a list; I wouldn't mind leaving it completely up to them) the simple things because they are what I enjoy most.  Books, frames, cds, flash drives, maybe an accessory of some sort....  Things that are I can enjoy time and again and/or are useful.  In turn, they're things that I see and/or use every day.  Smiley

I'm not a big celebration, gift person. Not sure why, but for me it's just another day. However, this year I'm hoping for a chainsaw.

Laura drank too much, threw up, and went to bed early on my birthday a few weeks ago. But at least I got to watch the basketball game. The little things mean so much.
