Aaarrgghhhhhhh! Nothing like dropping a grand to start the week
« on: June 12, 2007, 08:27:17 AM »

So Susan and I are back from our weekend in northern MN and ready to face the world again when she gets into her vehicle and is wowed by the light show her dash is putting on.

No sound at all, no clicks, no engine, no nothing. Battery is fine and I check everything I know (admittedly very basic stuff) and nothing. So I have it taken to the local guy I know and trust.

Got the call this morning - computer is fried. Would you like to spend $1600 for a new one or $900 to have yours rebuilt?

Whooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 Cussing

Got an extra computer for a 2002 Ford Explorer laying around?  Wink

Everything will work out it's just that *feces* like this really ticks me off. Nothing I can do about it though other than vent a little.

Next time you're heading out to Utah let me know. I think we could find a couple of dudes to play golf with.

Here's a post about a "computer" being frying, and there hasn't been a single Windows joke yet. I'm very disappointed.

Google "rebuilt ecm" or "rebuilt ecu"

Computer was probably a poor word choice on my part.

One word:  junkyard.

Ford ECU's can be reset by disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes or so.  If that doesn't work, I'd seriously try to find a junkyard ECU.

'F*cked On Race Day' is another one.

Yeah, reman ECU's, but 9 bills sounds a tad steepish...

Also, curious how an ECM would result in a 'No Crank/No Start' condition?
