Can you boycott people?
« on: June 28, 2007, 08:47:17 AM »

If so, I'm boycotting people who order coffee drinks with more than three ingredients and/or require a team of monkeys the better part of a morning to produce.

Gotta blame the establishment somewhat for (a) not being better staffed in order to make the drinks and (b) offering the bloody things in the first place.  But still, 9:00 AM and morning rush over, I walk into the place and I'm second in line.  Woman in front of me orders a cinnamon, double cumshot, moo-moo, hybrid latté with chocolate bits, optional frothilization and four inches of foam.  Takes three machines, several cans of secret ingredient X and literally five minutes to create.  By the time I leave the line is about eight people deep.

Not a rant. I just smiled and counted to 300.   Wink Smiley Grin

Did you help with the cumshot part?

300 seconds?  I could have handled a full table.  Wink

I have a friend who orders like that. I want to smack him silly every time we go get coffee. IMHO, if it takes you longer to order it than to consume it, you are probably more self-important than you deserve to be. Very few people are impressed by an individual's ability to use every ingredient in the place to make a drink. Then again, some of us like our coffee to taste like coffee.

Should be a separate line maybe.

Ever eat at the Shooting Star in Huntsville?  That place has the answer.  The food comes how they make it.  If you don't like something they put on your burger take it off yourself or go elsewhere.  I don't like mustard, mayo, condiments in general and it's kinda tough to get that off a sandwich so, guess what, I'm out of luck.  I dig the crusty attitude and you don't have to wait while the help develops a project plan for your order.

I haven't been there (I avoid Huntsville as much as possible, just a wee bit too much like Utah's own little Appalachia) but I like the business model.

"Grande non-fat no-foam latte."

Easy peasy: one milk, one steam, one pour.

Oh, and I guess I boycott coffeeshop foam.  Just don't like the texture, or paying for air.
