Firsts

Some recent firsts on my Cali vacation: - Not my first experience with it but worth repeating. California drivers - all in one place at one time. *fudge* me.
 - Sierra Nevadas. Doesn't quite equal the hype. I'm sure it's better away from I-80 but this Rocky Mountain boy wasn't much impressed.
- In-n-Out Burger. Yummy.
- Condoms on the gas pumps.
 - Chicks with dreadlocks. Saw my second three minutes after my first. Third really if you count the dementia. Might be a Big Sur thing.
- Views about Monterey peninsula. Truly outstanding.

I think he's talking about the long black cover over the gas nozzle that supposedly keeps the fumes in.

MP, had a great time. Doesn't sound like it though huh?  Spent time in Oakland about 10 years ago. Went to some ice cream place that was supposed to be all that. Don't remember much else. Whirlwind work tour. Steggie has it right with those plastic things over the pump. Didn't know they kept fumes in though. Weird science. Didn't get too crazy on In-N-Out visit #1. I'd never go animal-style anyway. I dislike white condiments, pickles and mustard is the worst food EVAR. Double-double with ketchup and onions please. Good stuff though, fries were nice too. |

Animal style is with grilled onions and extra special sauce--no white condiments. You can even order the fries animal style. It looks pretty gross. I've never tried it. If you know the secret menu can also order a 3x3 (three patties & 3 slices of cheese) and a 4x4 (four patties and 4 slices of cheese). |

Fenton's is the place. Good ice cream if I remember correctly but I don't go out of my way for ice cream. It'd have to be around the corner to get my business. I looked up animal style and it said something about a deep fried burger with a mustard crust (  ) and lots of pickles. Either way, yours or Google's, doesn't do much for me. I'd go for the grilled onions though. Very good burger though. Decent price and quick service. I can see why everyone seems to like them. Didn't know they had shakes and stuff until I got home. Menu has about a dozen items but I now understand you can order a bunch of other stuff. |

Didn't realize that wasn't the norm elsewhere. Animal style fries = awesome you can pretty much get a 20x20 if you want. i remember seeing a blog of some dude who finished one...after having a double double as a pregame warmup.  |

Didn't realize that wasn't the norm elsewhere. Here in Utah we just let our fumes exhaust into the open air. Practice good proctology. The ass you save may be your own. |
