Here's what Lynch needs to do. The Broncos play their next exhibition game Saturday against Cleveland, and before the opening kickoff Lynch needs to walk around Invesco Field explaining to fans that the half-assed effort they are about to see will be a disappointment and a rip-off -- but it will allow the Broncos to adhere to the code of ethics for the preseason.

To save time, maybe Lynch should just film a public-service announcement beforehand, thanking the crowd for spending regular-season money but reminding them that, due to the code of ethics for the preseason, they will see a brand of football worth pennies on the dollar.

How insulting. How dishonest. How asinine. But this isn't John Lynch's fault. He didn't create the code, he just tattle-told on the Cowboys for breaking it. The most disappointing thing to me is that the thoughtful, Stanford-educated Lynch didn't bother to think for himself when it came to the code. He followed it, and he assumed others would follow it, too. That's what followers do, I guess.

BS

Doyel's a moran.  Perhaps calling it a "code of ethics" is a bit of a stretch but every football fan in the entire country, save Gregg Doyel, knows the NFL preseason is no more than practice in pads.  The stars play one series.  Third string QBs are on the field after 10 minutes.  Guys at #40+ on the roster get 2.5 quarters.  Hits are pulled.  So on and so forth.

If the fans are paying full price that's their choice.  They know what they're getting for their dollars.  Again, nobody has a problem with this except Gregg Doyel.

That just might be the most ridiculous sports article I've ever read.
