using my badwith
« on: August 25, 2007, 08:32:13 AM »

two laptops, surfing the internet, im'ing, downloading 1.9g file and trying to watch all the youtube videos.

I have found my limit.

For those of you on dial-up you may start your flaming but I don't care. Fios is here to stay.

not sure I am a big verizon fan, but I would certainly like to try it.  sadly it's not even installed yet here (certainly one of the better parts of the city, and filled with young people ... grad students, young professionals... etc... the ideal target base)  ... supposedly won't be in place till 2009 or 2010

there are some good 3rd party firewalls out there, but as far as A/V  the only *real* threat for linux is rootkits, and if you are unfortunate and/or foolish enough to get one,  there's not really anything you can do about it other than start over.   another good policy from the getgo is blacklisting most 3rd world (IT sense) domain names in the hosts.deny file and making sure all unneeded services are disabled .  using aptget for most of your software needs should keep you safe most of the time, and using firefox with noscript and adblock will further help.

is there a place that lists those domains? Something that i can just copy? Adblock was a given, will need to get the other.
