Guess the commish thought it was a bad thing to do based on the fine! $500K to the coach, $250K to the team and loss of 1st round draft choice if they make the playoff's this year. Why not go ahead and take the win from them last week?

It's a good decision by the commish. Frankly, I doubt any of the Pats players knew it was happening. With the turnover in the league you wouldn't be able to get away with that for long before an ex teammate blows the whistle. The coaches and coordinators were probably the only guys in on the scam.
I won't go so far as to say their Super Bowls are tainted, but they better continue to kick ass this season. If they go 7-8 the rest of the way, then yeah, I think I WOULD say their SB's are tainted. It would be hard to conclude otherwise.

To think the Pats are the only team doing this would be naive. Every team has something on every other team. It may not be video but they have audio, notes, etc.. It's a cat and mouse game coaches play with the other team. The Pats got caught. Taking video and the radio frequencies just took it over the edge. I am sure this is not the last we will hear of it.

Good decision by Goodell.
I'd like to have seen Belichick suspended for a game as well. After Commish suspended Wade Wilson for HGH he said that coaches have to be held to a higher standard. And the Pats were warned last year.

It is wayyy over the edge, and I'm not so sure that other teams are doing this. To put it in a baseball context: if the man on second is stealing signs and tipping off the batter, that's uncool, against the unwritten rules, and he'll likely get a fastball in his ear the next time he's up, or drilled with a pickoff throw. On the other hand, if there is a guy with binoculars in center field stealing signs, and then using a radio to relay that sign to the batter or coaches (sort of like something the Phillies have been accused of doing recently), that's way over the line and beyond what has ever been a "healthy" part of the game. In both cases they're stealing signs, but in the former it's part of the time honored cat and mouse game. The latter is just way, way over the line. I'm sure all teams try to read and steal signals, but I'm not so sure they're doing something this egregious.

A friend of mine, Cowboys fan, has never been able to reconcile the job Bill Belichick has done at New England with his tenure in Cleveland. He wants to give the guy credit but the dichotomy has bugged him for years.
Not saying his reservations are necessarily vindicated but there's no doubt detractors will have a field day with this. His 'aura' his been tainted forever. This particular trump card will exist as long as memory.

I think there should have been a suspension as well. Is this why the Pats have been so successful? I know I have heard commentators saying that Brady can pick apart a defense almost like he knew what they were doing. One has to wonder now if that may have been the case.
