I remember.
There are three things in my life that have left indelible impressions on me, where I can tell you where I was, what I was doing, and how I heard the news: The Challenger explosion; my grandfather's death; and 9/11. I doubt any one of those memories will ever fade.

Agreed although mine was my grandmother's death.  I'll add the OKC bombing to that list as well.  Our school building shook about 10 miles away.  And I was home sick the day the challenger exploded from 1st grade.

Identical to my list.

I remember Challenger very well.

I was in the motor pool at Ft. Bragg hatin' on America when it happened.

I ended up with it on tape, as they had preempted All My Children to cover it....

We all remember a lot of things. We all forget others.

I remember the day the USSR fell. I don't know how that event affected anyone else but it was a very scary and intense 3 days for me. I remember where I was and what I was doing. Tensions were very high and we were all on alert. Being in the "enemy's" bathtub at that particular time was not the best place in the world to be.

Yesterday came and passed and for me it was just another day. In a way I am thankful for that. I am not scared, I am not sad, I am not mourning any great losses.

But I do remember and I will not forget.

Identical to my list.

Challenger - I had just gotten my lunch in the cafeteria at IBM, Endicott NY and it was on television. I was 21 and doing an internship for school.

Grandfather - At the same time I was in Endicott he was put in a hospital due to cancer. I drove home from NY and he died the day I left. I remember getting out of my care and seeing my parents faces and knowing instantly.

9/11 - I remember the Today show breaking in with the news a plane had hit one of the towers. I watched for a bit but had to leave for work. I remember myself saying out loud. "what the f*&^ is going on" when the news came on the radio that the second tower had been hit.

Three times in my life that I can remember in vivid detail.  Sad

{edit} I need to add two as well. Quite possibly the happiest events, my daughters.  Smiley
