You think our rule is funny, at Paradise Palms in Cairns, you can only smoke in the hazards, I think it is Atherton, you can smoke on the fairways, but not on the greens. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I'd be through.

As Seamus can attest, the way you find me at the golf course is to look for the cloud of smoke....

Only in the hazards? In that case, you better bring your rubbers.

The greens thing actually makes sense.

I get pissed off when I see a butt on the green...

I don't smoke, and I don't give a rats arse that Fawg does (or anyone else for that matter). Stupid law. Man I thought we lived in (WA State) the bastion of puritanical laws. I stand corrected.

You are only allowed to smoke on the odd holes at our course, but nobody seems to take any notice of the rules.

No, seriously. WTF are you saying?
It's true, we have strick smoking rules in Queensland.
Our club has enforced the rule on the golf course (because of the drinking license), but people still take no notice of it, its not like you have the "smoking police" out there on the look out.

LOL  Utah surrenders.
Salt Lake City has ordinances against smoking on any city owned public property, including golf courses. It doesn't seem very strictly enforced and most people who are inclined to smoke on a golf course ignore the ordinance, myself included. Being that the golf course is the only place I ever smoke, I think It's my prerogative.

Werd.

I'm a conscious smoker.  4 years in the Army, I can field strip a butt. (I'll pay for that)

Otherwise it goes in my empty can/bottle/trashcan on the next tee box.

When the entire fleet of groundskeeping equipment goes electric.........give me a call.

I think Seamus can attest that not only am I conscious when I smoke, I make every attempt to be conscientious and polite.

Not too tough to stick just the filter in your pocket and remove it later.

Yes and as are most smokers I've golfed with. I can see why they'd want to eliminate cig butt droppings on the course, but seriously I see more damage to the course from mostly kids (under 25) not taking care of it...IE not replacing divots and not fixing ballmarks on the greens, dragging feet etc.

Maybe they need to put more butt cans on the golf course, one at the tee one at the green, how hard is it really? I'm tired of taking things away from people.

I'm tired of taking things away from people.

Cigarettes are different in one, very significant respect.  Cigarette smokers, try as they might and many definitely do, cannot make it so their choice doesn't affect others.  If a non-smoker chooses not to suck down second hand smoke I think his right overrides that of the smoker.

Having said that, prohibiting smoking on a golf course, a walk around the block, in a park, on the open prairie, on the open bow of an ocean vessel and other like places is grade-A ridiculous.

I was staying within the confines of the thread, shocking as that seems.  Shocked In my original response I had typed that I was all for the indoor ban on smoking, but I then deleted it as I was trying to stay relevant to the op.
