what is the name/word  for the vertical bar/pipe in choppers that in those cheesy-ass rambo type movies  the guy is always holding onto ?

i'm not really sure if it's inside or outside....    but it's the rambo guy, not the pilot.

...I think I know the answer.... It's technical term is "Jesus Bar", so called when you're hanging on to it and the chopper is all over the place, or you're getting shot at you yell "Jesus"....

We always called that the bitch bar when I was in D Co, 229th Attack Helicopter Battalion. What I recall is that it's a reinforcement for the engine/transmission assembly right above it exposed by the larger door openings on post Vietnam era Huey's.

You can actually see the difference in the left side opening if you look at the bottom pic (that's not the same bar, it's some kind of exterior mount) versus the top 2.

What it's actual name is I have NO idea, but it may be called 'Bitch Bar' because you tend to bang your head, knee, elbow, whatever on it ingressing and egressing and say 'sonuvaBITCH!'.
