“We’ve always known that Democrats seem to revert to type and they are willing to raise taxes on just about anything,” Perino said. “There’s no need to increase taxes.” Of course not. We finance wars with tax cuts in Amerika, you Lib Morans...

I hate to say it, but I feel terribly over taxed right now. I need a break.
Federal Income Don't know the percentage bracket but it's up there. Mn state income. Perennially coming in at #3, or 4 in the nation. Mn sales tax @ 6.5%, 7 if you wanna buy something in Hennipen county to pay for the new stadium Gas tax Cigarette tax Liquor tax Property tax is through the roof, and has damn near doubled in 4 years. Almost 4k.
I'm the cliche` middle to lower middle class white guy with no breaks paying the big bill.

By my calculations, we should be able to just afford the war (for this week) if we simply deny health care to children for the rest of the year. It's all about priorities

Is it possible the Dems are going to find a way to *fudge* up this election cycle? I used to think not. All they have to do is not solicit sex from underage monk acolytes and they're home free. Is this a sneak preview of their self-destructive tendencies? [ for stroh ]

Since the nominees are going to be Giuliani or Romney and Hillary, we'll be electing a Democrat in 2008 no matter WHAT happens...

While I certainly don't want to pay more taxes, I think it makes sense, in general, to have tax proposals accompany spending bills. Particularly when the spending bill is for unusual spending - like a war should be. That just seems like good financial sense.
In this particular case, it's just a publicity stunt, and it's back-firing on the Democrats.

LOL, true enough. But the election cycle is more than just the Presidential contest. I can certainly see the Dems orchestrating a full-scale meltdown in the legislative elections. They have the knack. Nothing screws them up more than being favored to win.
