Top 20 coolest guitar licks.
Took a guess, and I hit about 60 percent before watching it.

Damn fine list.

Any list that includes Mark Knopfler is Ok in my book. I think he's a dang fine and very under rated guitarist.

Kashmir- my all time Zep fave song.
Mean Streets- my all time VH fave song.
Bulls on Parade- my all time RATM fave song.

You'll always have arguments for and against any particulars on a list like this, but anytime you can name a song just from a few chords on the guitar obviously the artist has done their job. Thumbs up!

I have to take exception to any list of greatest anything that includes Nirvana, Lenny Kravitz, Skynyrd, and Zepplin (twice!).

Oh, and any list of great guitar licks absolutely must include at least one of any number of classics from Dave Murray and/or Adrian Smith:

I'll take a guess on a few:

Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water
Cream - Sunshine of Your Love
Black Sabbath - Iron Man
Led Zeppelin - Heartbreaker
Jimi Hendrix - Purple Haze
The Byrds - Mr. Tambourine Man
Beatles - Day Tripper
Beatles - Helter Skelter
Derek and the Dominoes - Layla
Iron Butterfly - In a Gadda Da Vida
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama
Allman Brothers Band - Ramblin' Man
CCR - Fortunate Son
The Kinks/Van Halen - You Really Got Me (might be considered more of a riff than a lick)
Michael Jackson - Beat It
Rick James - Super Freak

some ridiculous *feces* in there (especially early ).  some of those can be picked up within 30 minutes by someone who has never even touched an axe before

Man, that list had too much *feces* from the late 80s/early 90s.

I think that was the basis for the list.  "coolist" licks --> most recognizable (like Seamus said).

Not best guitarist of all time.  Not best rock song evar.

I suspect 6 is only on there because of who it is.

I'd replace it with this opening riff:

Or:

Actually, how that opening ISN'T on the list is a travesty now that I think about it.
