[true story]
Party of karate folk, a crowd I used to run in at UVA. About six of us arrive early at one guy's house. His roommate, very annoying guy (and consider the source of that comment!), inserts himself into our party as he kills time before leaving for we-don't-care-where-just-please-leave. We wander into the kitchen to access the keg and to escape him. He follows us.
He says something, ending his sentence with a preposition, then catches it, looks around and says, Who's going to be the Grammar Police tonight?"
I reply, "That would be I."
No one laughed then, either.
