Mariska Hargitay is the daughter of Jayne Mansfield and Mickey Hargitay, and was actually in the back seat of the car  during the accident that killed Mansfield and 2 others in 1967...

i knew.
read it on wiki when i started watching svu a few years ago and wondered what her background was as she has a rather weird 'look'  (but I never would have put 2and2 together... although in hindsight, a lot of features are there...)

Akes right, if you look, there's a really strong resemblance. I'm too lazy to post any pics, and besides this one has a little something for everybody, so enjoy the googling!

Apparently she has a facial scar from the accident, which was gruesome in the extreme. You can google that too, but safe to say she's extremely fortunate just to have made it past the age of 3...
