Heh, sorry about that.  I was up late last night and just added that link without any explanation.

I'm currently working on creating Android/GPhone apps with a friend of mine.  Apps involving things like proximity chatting, emergency alert beacons, geocaching communicators, etc.   One of the common underlying components in these apps is location messaging (LMS messages).

The map chat mashup is related to this, it's just another way to create location-based messages through a computer browser instead of a phone.

So for the web chat, instead of having discrete chatrooms, you can chat with the other people nearby that show up on your map.

It's still buggy and has some big issues to deal with (some proximity wonkiness), but I thought it might be fun to play around with.

Oh yeah, I don't recommend using your precise location.  That's why by default I had the link take you to Augusta.
