It sounds like that is my swing, though the term wasn't used when I was taught.

My takeaway swing thought is to "step" on my front side during the takeaway to prevent a sway.

What I'm trying to do is basically pivot off the front foot, so consequently I need to keep a lot of weight on the front side compared to "swayers".

Imagine a laser light is facing me and is pointed at my front hip at set up.

What I try to do is keep that laser beam on the hip throughout the swing.

If my hip stays in one spot, so does my head, and if by magic the shaft stays on plane and the clubface doesn't open either.

If I err and sway, that laser beam hits a photocell behind me that my hip would normally block.  Activation of the photocell triggers a thermonuclear war followed by a post-apocalyptic nuclear winter so horrible and devastating, it is beyond even Quentin Tarantino's darkest imagination.

So, yes, I do believe I "stack" and "tilt" if that's what a "stack" and "tilt" is....and if you can still read this, it is fair to assume I achieve this quite successfully.

The good thing about getting old, is that you can hit the ball out of sight.

My pleasure.  When trying it for the first time, you'll probably not do it right unless you think about 'sticking your booty' down the target line.

Man, I'd like to see THAT!

I'm going to give this a try.  I'm so sick of hanging back on my right side and burying my club into the ground with a fat chunk.  I've been making swings in my mirror with this method and it feels promising.

'fredo, have you checked into any of the discussions about it on FGI?  If you're interested, they have dissected it from every angle.  Pro and con.  Lot of blow-ups, and arguments, but still some pretty good opinions, and information on it.

Yeah I've been following those threads.  They are actually very informative for something so undocumented.

Well I hit some balls at the range Sunday trying what I feel is stack and tilt.  It went pretty well.  At least well enough for me to continue trying it out.  I was hitting some great wedge shots and short irons at first.  Making very solid contact and hitting it surprisingly far.  Took out the driver and proceeded to snap hook one badly.  Next attempt my clubhead hit the ground well behind the ball and it went 50 feet.  Then I tried to keep my weight more centered, make sure I finished my turn and keep my head behind the ball.  And I started hitting good drives with slight draws although the ballflight was pretty low as I'm probably delofting.  I hit a 3W though and piped it down the middle with a slight draw.  I hit a few bad iron shots, couple chunks and some blades but when I made sure and completed my turn on the backswing I hit the ball great.  I did hit a few wedges where I delofted the club a lot but hit it very solid and far.  Good sign in that it seems to keep my hands ahead of the ball at impact.

Another benefit I found was how well the stack and tilt pivot works for pitches.  I was pitching and chipping better than ever.  It really helped prevent the dreaded stab chunk chip by keeping me fluid and accelerating through.  So far so good though on all accounts.
