Work Rant
« on: January 01, 2008, 12:13:54 PM »

So I get to work, day does not look to be as easy as the last two but there have been worse. Get into the work load and my counterpart for Manufacturing (I'm in engineering) calls me for the status of 2 peices of equipment. I inform him #1 is either a 5min or a 5 hour fix. We just don't know. #2 is about 1.5 hours when I can get someone on it. (there are 4 of us here today and we are all working on something.)

10 min later he calls again (BTW he is not the normal supervison, filling in for the regular one as she is off today) and says can we run #1 at 50%? I say we could but I have someone on it now and when would we be able to get back on to fix it, today, tomorrow, next week? How long do we push it off? Says he'll call me back.

10 min later he calls and says can we pull someone off something to work on tool #2? I tell him my priorities and we should be able to get someone on it within an hour. Didn't like that, wants someone on it now. I ask him if my manager has been called? Response "I think so."

So I go ahead and do as he wants but I call my boss. He knows nothing about the situation and goes left on both the manufacturing supervisor and the manufacturing super.

The manufacturing super is the one that caused the whole problem. First he should have called my boss. They are on the same level and should work things out. Second he was trying to manipulate people to do what he wants. Third he talked to people he is not in charge of (he called one person in my group) to try and get her to do something she should not do.

When all was said and done the only thing that got accomplished that would not have happened if I was let to do my job is I am now pissed to no end, my day is ruined, and this other person is upset because she thinks she might be in trouble (even though she did nothing) when in fact she did the right thing. And the worst part of this is that *bunghole* probably stayed up late last night and enjoyed the entering of the New Year. He is at home probably watching the games. I went to bed at 9:30 and I am stuck here at work today.

Thanks for making my New Years Day.

Thought I would give a quick update since this had been eating at me all week.

I finally talked to my boss today. He is completely on my side and had several heated discussions with the other manager over my weekend.

Everything is now good, I have ammo and backup if things like this are to come up again.

After reading 2i's thread and my now good day at work kind of gives me an idea. But then again Batman prefers the batcave.
