Idiots.  If the major broadband players do this everyone will switch to alternative/local ISPs.  Once they see how much better the product and service is they'll never go back.  I've spent more time on the phone with Comcast/MSN/Qwest and all the other "major" players in helping friends over the past ten years than I have with my own connection.  Which, by the way, has experienced maybe 30 minutes of down time in all those years other than the two days the copper (Qwest) was cut.

I wouldn't go cable unless it was my only option.
