I see a lot of non-filthy libs weighing in here. Is that non-(filthy libs) or (non-filthy) libs?

I think Hillary is mainly disliked because she comes off as smug and insincere. It is impossible to fake being genuine. It is just her personality IMO. Of course being a lib and married to Bill helps too.

me too. Do you think McCain really believes a lot of his platform that highlights the far right talking points. I took him as more moderate than all that.

The far right hates him and Limbaugh is almost apoplectic. He's a repub so the far left doesn't really like or trust him (at least publicly). Sounds like he might be right where a lot of 'merkans reside politically. Or at least close enough on a number of issues to be tolerable. It is a little surprising to me how many of my democratic friends are hoping the Clinton express gets derailed. They believe she is just too divisive to win. And not because she's a women but because she's got that big 'ol Bill standing right next to her. Plus they are put off by her sometimes projecting the whole, "hey, it's my turn! why aren't you giving this to me" attitude. And I personally believe McCain will get most of the 'independents' in a head to head battle with her. Interesting, though not awe inspiring, stuff.

me too. Do you think McCain really believes a lot of his platform that highlights the far right talking points. I took him as more moderate than all that. He could be using these talking points just to appease the neocons, but it seems Hillary could be doing something similar--trying to sound hawkish in order to show that a woman can be CINC of the U.S. armed forces.

What if it's the Mormon dude on the other ticket? Won't happen - I think they truly do not like each other. And if McCain wants to go right to 'energize the base' maybe Huckabee? Dark horse: Gov. Tim Pawlenty of MN. He's a friend and has been flying around the country campaigning for him. Rumor around here is that he may be on the short list. But personally I have my doubts about it.

That's not what I mean. I'm asking what if it's Hillary vs. Romney in the general election. Would you still vote against (the) Clinton(s)?

Listening on the radio on the way home last night, they had T Paw as the most logical choice.

If this were to happen, it would likely break Minnesota's streak in presidential elections. Let's see: '76, '80, '84, '88, '92, '96, '00, and '04 That's 8 straight elections in which a Democrat carried MN.

I don't honestly see any huge differences between Hillary and McCain. 6 of one half a dozen of the other, as the saying goes. That's probably okay, as what the country really needs is a moderate/centrist, since that's where the majority of Americans reside. The big issue, then, is the fact that Hillary carries the baggage of built-in hatred of so many Americans. Perhaps McCain is the right choice between the two as he is the less divisive of the two, though he lost a lot of credibility in my mind when he sold out to the evil empire and became a Bushy lap dog in 2004.
Still jonesing for a Obama/Edwards ticket.
