What a *goshdarn* douchebag. Is his middle name "Corey"? He's trying to force WVU to air out its dirty laundry. http://sports.espn.go.com...ncf/news/story?id=3226229MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Rich Rodriguez says opening the books of West Virginia's private fundraising arm is the only way to determine whether his abrupt resignation as football coach harmed the school financially.
That was a key demand in the formal response that Rodriguez filed Friday to WVU's lawsuit over the $4 million buyout clause in his contract. He also said it was the administration's actions -- not a better offer -- that forced him to resign in December and take the coaching job at Michigan.
Is financial harm one of the requirements for having to pay the buy-out clause requirement? And how in the hell can the "financial harm" be reflected in the books in only a couple of months? |

The $4 million (and fwiw, his side claims it's only $1.5 million, which he's already made a binding promise to pay) is in the form of liquidated damages. Those damages have to be commensurate with the actual harm, so far as the court can determine it. In essence, he's challenging whether $4 million is fairly representative of the actual harm suffered by WVU with his breach. |
