the good:

so the player(s) we got  are great in and of themselves. the menu/nav  kills the ipod   IMHO!

the size and weight are unfathomable for a 8gb player.

player has amazing audio EQ customization to make it sound good through any set of headphones.

the supplied headphones are surprisningly decent (of course still all small-bud models suck overall, but these far less than average

battery life so far seems awesome too.

the bad:

we can only get these to work with my laptop, and not Sal's desktop.  annoying.  neither of the 2 is recognized, winblows auto popups the found new hardware wizard after installing all the creative software disks.  meh.   can't find the MTP drivers. (even though a post-op searhc reveals my machine pointing to certain drivers which are! in her windows/etc/etc/etc/ folders. )

nonetheless, i'll probably just keep both of these and buy Sal another sandisk player, as she has a 2GB one from a year+ ago and it works fine (which is what is SOOO f'n frustrating and confusing!!).

oh, did i mention ripping emmmpeetwees on this laptops sucks ?
slow. slow.slow.
