BAGHDAD (Reuters) - U.S. Vice President *8==>* Cheney on Monday declared the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq a "successful endeavor" in a visit to Iraq that was overshadowed by a suicide bombing that killed at least 25 people.

"If you look back on those five years it has been a difficult, challenging but nonetheless successful endeavor ... and it has been well worth the effort," Cheney told a news conference in Baghdad after meeting Iraqi leaders.

Well, worth it for you personally, huh?

I'm proud to say I've lived through the 2d Gilded Age, right down to 4,000 dollar steaks in Las Vegas while the proles were at the free buffet.

Now, to get back to my usual position of positively sounding like a wignut over here:

Cheney's absolutely right. The invasion was eminently successful. The 58 months of occupation that followed would be a different matter.
