“I think HD television is having even a bigger impact than we thought, as more and more households are getting equipped with HD television and being able to watch our sport on HD, it’s having a nice effect on viewing habits.”

-- Tim Finchem, talking about the effect that HD programming has had on the game of golf.

As more and more households are getting equipped with HDTV why doesn't Tim use his considerable influence to ensure his network partners get more and more equipped with HD cameras.  Every camera on the course should be HD.  I imagine there's enough money...  Don't Know

nbc has finally (as of 2 weeks ago) moved to an all hd wireless cam system.
now if only they'd upgrade their encode/compression schemes.

cbs still leagues better in this department (along with announcers - excluding nantzy and kostis).

can't wait to see the open at torrey pines.  this will be a great revelation on whether nbc really wants to step up their game or not -- unfortunately, i imagine we'll still see tons of ball flutter and macroblocking.  one of their worst offender moments is the camera transitions from the 'ball against the sky' to the 'ball descending to and impacting the green' --  the PQ is always horrible and usually only clears back up when the ball has taken at least 1 hop.    unbelievable that this can't be resolved.   no issue at CBS
