I'll take a smart guy who thinks voters are bitter over a dumb guy who thinks voters are irrelevant. YMMV.

Might I ask why?

i've never voted for a democrat in my life, evar. the whole liberal ideal is lost on me. i'm the old fashioned small government leave me and mine the *fudge* alone type of conservative republican. unfortunately at this point i feel the republican party could care less about me. give them a second and they'll prove it. the whole deal has been bought and paid for.

even when i was voting against bushco in 04 i didn't vote for a democrat.

we have a second term democratic governor in my state that thinks my wallet is bottomless. they have raised taxes in some of the most imaginative ways the world has ever seen at a time when our state is in the worst shape it has ever been in my lifetime. i am paying my real estate taxes a year in advance because they couldn't live within their wallets.

democrat = costing me money i don't have.

Not to pick on you, but ...

You strike me as smart enough to not be mindlessly swallowing the party line.  In particular, then, I've always had trouble understanding how present-day Republicans can correctly be characterized as the party of "small government" or of fiscal responsibility.  I can see how you'd distinguish between how much you're being taxed v. where that money is being spent.  But as to how heavy a financial burden Big Government places on you and yours, I can't really see any meaningful difference between the two parties.

I had to register as a rebuplican just so I could vote against someone 39  years ago.  I never changed the registration.   I still vote Libertarian every chance I get.

I don't play golf anymore.   Well, maybe I do sort of.  I quit keeping score, started drinkning beer and I started playing better.
