I have to rank this as one of the top posts on here. That said I am just now getting the desire to play back in also. A few years ago it was about the equipment but I still wasn't playing. I never lost the desire, just the time and money. For me now it's more just getting out and enjoying the game versus what I shoot. Most of the time I don't even keep score anymore. I usually start to but if I know I am not doing well I just stop and think more about where I am and more importantly what I am not doing instead of playing golf. That's why I think the Bandon trip will be a blast. I wont care what I shoot. I will just enjoy the company and the beauty of the course rather then my play. |

Where did it all go? Work. Kids. Work. House. Kids. Handicap goes from 20...to 25...to 30. Interest wanes. You know the only way to improve is to go dig into the dirt with that 7 iron until your hands bleed. Who has time for that anymore? An hour here, an hour there, meh. Pretty soon your a grumpy old man yelling at the neighbor kids to GET OFF MY LAWN! as you pull up your khaki banlon slacks until they reach you man nipples. I'm part of the fundraising board at work and am on the committee to coordinate our annual golf tournament. I was informed today that I will be joining some of the other members of the committee on Thursday for a round at the potential site for this years tourney, a fairly exclusive private course (Hidden Valley CC). I seriously haven't set foot on a golf course in 9 months. I fully expect I will be embarrassing myself.
If that's not the way to restore my enthusiasm, I don't know what is.
