can't shoot when you spend the whole period in your own end. his whole strategy this playoffs is dump in, win it, and shoot. it's obvious that dump in and win it is far harder against the wings.... but if you're gonna dump it in and lose it, might as well just fire off blue line shots. when they do get it in the wings end, they work way too hard trying to set up the perfect play... and then lose it. doesnt help that so far this series EVERY bound in and around osgood has been whiffed or saved  |

another things that strikes me as interesting in this series so far is HOW RIDICULOUSLY BAD the pens are playing on good ice right now. it's like they don't remember that the puck is gonna stay flat, move fast, etc. they don't remember that players can dance on it. they haven't seen the puck move like that except 1-2 games in the last month. too much time in the slush at mellon. just like the *feces* field at heinz with the steelers, the penguins have elite speed/skill players used to playing stuck in neutral on a garbage surface. it will be interesting to see how much slower detroit is in games 3 and 4
