"I don't know how you determine the game was rigged," Fisher said. "Obviously, I was there in the game. I don't remember any moment thinking, 'They're helping us out a little bit.' A lot of things change from game to game. Different officiating crews call games differently. I can't comment on it. You still have to win the next game (Game 7). I'm not going to give my ring back, I know that."

wonder what he'd be saying if he was on the losing end?  Wink

Bitterness of Jazz fans aside, I can honestly say that Derek Fisher is one of the classier guys in the league (I just wonder where the hell that deadly outside shot was when he was in a Jazz uniform). I very rarely (if ever) see him complain about the officiating. Phil Jackson, on the other hand... dude bitches about the refs when they win by 40 points. With the exception of 'sheed, the only guy I can think of who is a bigger complainer about the officiating than Phil is Rick Adelman.

On topic- I don't believe the league is "rigged" per se, mostly I think the officials are just universally bad. I can't stand the fact that stars get star treatment, but the NBA has been like that as long as I can remember. Irv and Julius got their share of questionable calls too.

Good point.  I believe it is mirrored precisely in the NFL.  Moss and Owens don't get near the calls and or get three times the calls that Joe wide out would get/not get.

There's a big, big difference between Randy Moss (or Michael Jordan) getting a loose interpretation of the rules because of who they are and the league implying or even outright stating that certain calls should or should not be made to affect a preferred outcome to a game or series.

'Integrity of the game' and all that.
