Olympic Track and Field qualifying (SPOILER)
« on: June 29, 2008, 05:15:31 PM »

Tyson Gay just ran a 9.68 in the finals of the men's 100m. Wind-aided so it wasn't a world record but damn, that was fast.  Shocked

Wind-aided? Did he eat some Van Camp's Pork and Beans before the race?

That is gay.  It doesn't count because there was wind?

More like a 3.54, assuming constant velocity.

That's like a 3.87 40.

LOL, not that argument again.

michael johnson ran the last 100m of his WR 200  in 9.2 (10.12 1st 100, 19.32 total)   , interestingly this guy has the next best 200m time since johnson's WR,  19.67 total.  seems like johnson is a slow accelerator of the initial gun but hits a maximum peak speed that is much higher than this guy can reach.  (not completely scientific or rigorous, but something on the order of 10%), oh, and at that peak speed, johnson would cover 40 yards in about 3.37s. lol.
