"Tony Dungy might be at the top of my list, but it's my understanding he may not be interested. You have to make sure those kinds of things are determined."
Dungy, the former Gophers quarterback and current Indianapolis Colts coach, told reporters Tuesday that he is not interested in the job. Bruininks indicated the school will still pursue Dungy, calling him a "dream candidate."I think you have to take him at his word [that he's not interested]," Bruininks said. "But we're a fairly persistent lot around here."

I heard the interview on "The Fan". I dunno. I am a Gopher fan, because I live here. I didn't attend the school. I look at it from the NFL perspective. (Saban to Alabama, not withstanding). I just can't see it. A lot more great NFL minds here than I, though.  |

I just think it's interesting. I don't really care that much either as I didn't go to school there, just grew up following them. Bruininks seems to have the power as it seems Maturi is always clearing things with him. I'll admit it's a long shot.  |

Bowden? JoPa? Dude from USC? etc.?
He's on the cusp of : Cowher, chasing, Gruden, Martz, Holmgren, then, Belichick, The Tuna,........

There is no reason, that this program should not be a "Powerhouse" Big Ten force, lte alone, a ranked National team. Personnel, is all we need.

I think the analogy to Carroll at USC is closest. I have no idea about his mindset or what may motivate him. If he thinks his window at Indy is slipping away, maybe he walks from the NFL for a few years. I'd have to believe he'd be hired by some NFL team 5-10 years down the line if he wanted to return. |
