Random Star Wars Musings.
« on: July 02, 2008, 12:02:16 PM »

The last couple of days I have been watching Star Wars Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones.

Watching them again, I'm getting a much better appreciation for just how bad these movies were, and scene by scene finding out why.

Just some really stupid dialogue, really bad acting, and plot lines with little to no connectivity.

One of the things that really stuck out to me was the fact that they seem to be telling us stuff (probably to justify things from the original) that just don't need explaining, or make any sense.

For instance:

Yoda: There is always two Sith.  A master and his apprentice.  Never more, never less.

WTF?  There's like 10,000 Jedi!  You can't seem to keep 2 dudes under control?  So A. 2 Sith makes no sense.  Leave it out.

Windu:  .....Good.  while you are away we will discover the identity of your mysterious attacker.
Windu:        Now, you must go and discover the identity of your mysterious attacker

Uh....WTF have have you been doing?  Yeah.  Thanks for the effort.

We need a 10 year old Jedi in training to figure out someone wiped out a star system from the data base?  What the *fudge* kind of librarian was she?

I'm sure I can come up with more.

Mitichlorians not mitochondria. But both make about as much sense within the context of how The Force works. It was much cooler when it was just mysticism and cosmic energy. Then Lucas had to *fudge* it up by going all biological on its ass. Worst plot point evar.

I still can't get over the senseless tragedy of losing all those poor independent contractors on return of the jedi.  They had no dog in that fight for certain.

It is not advisable, James, to venture unsolicited opinions. You should spare yourself the embarrassing discovery of their exact value to your listener.

I thought it was pretty stupid that they even had a concept of a library in the movie. While I was watching that scene I was preparing to throw my drink at the screen the instant a library patron had to shush somebody for being too loud.

Only second to the senseless tragedy of Greedo shooting first.

Have you seen the new Indiana Jones movie?

George Lucas needs to retire. Stephen Spielberg is also starting the downward spiral.

Quite familiar with Herbert. The family compound is just up the way.

The movie still blows.   Grin
