Great quote by a former NFLer on this.  The hypocrisy of the players doing it.  I don't have a link, I think it was the LA Times.

They're actually very fraudulent in the fact they (in getting out of that life and into the NFL) got out or we're never in those gangs.  Then once successful flash the signs knowing that nothing could come of it or disprove it.  If they flashed those signs on the corner of blah and blah it would be a very different story.
