OTOH, if we took the >$1T that this Iraqi invasion and occupation has cost us and purchased the oil on the open market at the pre-invasion price of, say, $25/barrel, we could have stockpiled 40B barrels of oil. This would have covered the oil consumption of the entire US for 5.5 years.
