(CNN) — A man is being held in Florida on charges he threatened to assassinate Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, according to court documents.

An affidavit filed by a Secret Service agent in U.S. District Court claims that Raymond Hunter Geisel, of Marathon, Florida, threatened to "kill, kidnap and cause bodily harm upon a major candidate for president of the United States, that is, Senator Barack Obama."

The affidavit says Geisel made the threats while attending a bail bondsman training class in Miami.

During an interview with the Secret Service, Geisel denied threatening Obama, but told agents that "if he wanted to kill Senator Obama he would simply shoot him with a sniper rifle."

He later said that comment was a joke, the agent said in the document.

The 3 name thing must explain why it took the FBI so long to finger Bruce Ivins as the Amerithrax bioterrorist.

I bet the way it came down is like this:

FBI agent #1:  "Just got the call.  We have to close the case on Hatfield and pay him $5.2 million for his troubles.

FBI agent #2: "Dayum"

FBI agent #1: "Now we are back to square one.  Let's go over the list again."

FBI agent #2:  "There's this Bruce Ivins guy...."

FBI agent #1:  "No way. He doesn't have 3 names."

FBI agent #3: [looks up from sodoku puzzle] "He's got three names if we call him Doctor Bruce Ivins"

FBI agent #2:  "Why didn't we think of that when we got Hatfield on the rope?"
