that evil goddamn liberal science is getting in the way of profits! we need some independent lobbyists to make these critical decisions impartially! besides, destroying some ecosystems and wiping out various species is our god given right as humans!  how else do you think we got rid of those evil dinosaurs after they turned against us at the tree of knowledge--  it was all a single jeebus roundhouse kick to the yucatan, not a meteor!

[serious] Sad news. While I have, at times, been conflicted at putting the rights of the great white spotted southern turkey gerbil owl in front of EVERYTHING else, I think this is very unfortunate and ripe for abuse.

From personal experience, the Bald Eagle comeback along the Mississippi River in southern MN over the past 30 years has been nothing short of incredible. Dozens and dozens of nesting pairs from Feb-April is one of the very cool things to see.[/serious]
