Family Vacation
« on: August 13, 2008, 09:49:28 PM »

Trip down to Wally Disney World was for the most part uneventful. Nothing really exciting besides what I posted before.

We get to the hotel, check in, and get to our rooms. My parents find open suitcases and stuff in the room. So we call the desk and get new rooms, we requested adjoining rooms. Porter comes and we load everything up into a stretch golf cart and taken to the new rooms.

We decide to hit Magic Kingdom that day. Before we leave the room I realize I don't have my sunglasses anymore (prescription at that). We look around the room, get someone to look in the old room and look at all the walk ways. Not to be found. Damn it.

Do the park thing and by 10 everyone is tired. Get back to the room and crash.

The next 7 days are pretty much the same. Hit a park, spend money, look at women, tease the boys, tease the wife, watch mom and dad get tired and head to the room, spend more money, yell at the boys, eat diner, crash in the room. Rinse and repeat 6 more times.

Trip back home was different. First day drove. Second day visited the USS Alabama Battleship memorial. That was fun as it gives you access without supervision. While on board bellow decks the ship lost power and all the lights went out. I had to help the kids and Darla go up 2 levels in the dark. Darla got her cell phone out to help light up the way but it was a little but of excitement.

We then went on board the USS Drum, an old WW II sub. See previous post.

Today we went to a plantation because Darla wanted to see one. It was amazing to see how people lived back in the 1850's or so. Even in luxury they were still in dark ages. Out houses and all. But to see what they had and how much it cost then is enlightening. Boys could care less.

On a side note some of the greatest inventions in no particular order:
DVDs
Portable DVD player
iPhone
Portable Video Game players

Books are so over rated (stroh agrees)

Instead of adding pics here just go to my album and view at your leisure.

Seaworld?  Hospitality room stories?
No Seaworld.

I did however see on two occasions a young couple coming out of the "family" restroom. Different couples, different parks. Both times the couples had smiles and looks of "OMG did we just do it at Disney World?"

Most of the time I played games of "I wonder if those *funbags* are real" and "Lord I hope she is over 18".

On that note I am so glad I have boys. Girls nowadays are looking a lot older at a younger age. No wonder stroh drinks so much.

I've only done the Orlando theme park trip a couple of times.  Mrs Blader was raised by an extreme themeparkophile, so she's quite comfortable in that particular ecosystem.   My progeny's grandfather can be brought to tears of joy with tales about their adventures on the tea cup ride.

Pretty sick stuff if you ask me.

I was adopted and then raised by a wild pack over-educated skeptics and ravenous antidisestablishmentarians, who possessed an unusually strong aversion to methods of ordered crowd control, especially long wait lines.

Seaworld was about all I could handle, mostly because of the free beer.  I never once minded waiting in the Seaworld hospitality line.
