Since we lost the King.

He'd just started the slide here, and he was still great.

I lost a good friend on the same day.  21 years old and he had just recovered from cancer.  A blood clot got loose and killed him in his sleep.  And everyone was saying how young Elvis was.   Sad

I remember that day well.  I was 21, and through my life at that time, I had times where it was like I had ESP or something as occaisonally I could tell things could happen before they did.  My best friend was a big Elvis nut and he witnessed a few of my ESP moments to where he wondered about me.  Anyway, the news came on the radio while he was driving and said they had breaking news.   He slammed on the brakes and said "It's Elvis", and I wondered where in the he** that came from.  Then the announcer said that Elvis had died, then I had that eerie feeling wondering how in the world did he know that.  Very strange.

Here's some *goshdarn* perspective:

We're talking about  one of the most recognizeable figures in the world, who never gave one single live performance outside the USofA, and AFAIK had only one broadcast performance overseas in 1973.

Even The Beatles launched a world tour, including Japan, before they became iconic...
