If a Republican candidate who dropped out in March was found to have had a long running extramarital affair, would it be a week long story for The Morals and Values Party, or just bidness as usual, assuming that the affair in question wasn't Ghey in nature, as they tend to be for Republicans?

In other words: If it turns out Fred Thompson spent a couple of years giving the high hard one to some (female) associate producer on Law and Order, would CNN give it the time of day?

or conversly it might just be a: "Does a bear *feces* in the woods?" type moment.

Umm, no:

John Edwards had an affair in 2006/2007 with some videographer, and it's been news for about a week.

Of course, Edwards hasn't been a candidate for anything since March, which makes one curious what the reaction would have been if Thompson (who dropped out around the same time and has a reputation for sticking his junk anywhere it will fit) had been exposed in a similar manner.

My guess: Since nobody really wants to visualize Thompson having **** with ANYBODY, it wouldn't have rated more than a passing mention on Wonkette.

Then again: The story was rumored to be out there since late last year, and it wasn't being reported...
