Strangest par
« on: September 05, 2008, 10:53:54 AM »

I'm 3 over after 4 holes, (Double, par, bogey, par), and hit my 5-wood tee shot, on the 315 yard 14th, my fifth, right on the toe and send it OB on the right. Sad  Hitting 3, I hook my next tee ball into the woods on the left, Disgusted but playable. When I reach my ball, the GPS on the cart says 74 yards to the pin, and there is a small opening through the overhanging branches. I need to hit it low, so I pull my 7-iron. I hit it just right and the ball bounces twice and reaches the green. It tracks perfectly across the ~40 feet and goes in center cup. PAR Cheers Drink Thank you Thank you. I followed that up with a birdie on next, another double and two bogeys. 42 was my second best score on that course this year. Interestingly, I didn't have one good tee shot the entire day. Huh?

Well done!

The scorecards at my course have no room on them to record how.  Just how many.

Any par is strange for me.

The good thing about getting old, is that you can hit the ball out of sight.

I do that a lot. Always have some horrible shots and always end up with par or better.

I play a lot of Best Ball scrambles though.

Great hole, always fun to have stories like that.

I'm a looser, but not a complete waste. At least that's what Clive says.

New strange thing happened yesterday.
5th hole, par 5, third shot from 142 yards out. I hit my 8-iron to the left front of the green, (pin is on right center).
When we get to the green, I don't see my ball. Partner says could it be in the hole? I say no. But then yes. But not the actual hole.
It seems that someone cut a ~2" diameter hole, about 3" deep, in the green. Maybe for a soil sample??? My ball hits about 8" in front and backs into the hole!!! Shocked Shocked.
What are the odds of this?
