i really don't get it.  who's gonna prop up these company's stocks so they can 'bail themselves'  out?

new thought,  if these companies are "too important to fail"  then they NEED to be "de-corporationed" (there HAS to be a word for that?) across the board, as an industry, in one fell swoop.... leave none behind, and get it over with like ripping a band-aid off.

the nature of maximizing short term shareholder value is inherently contrary to long term solvency and stability that is being argued for as critical.

But long is it going to take for Goldman and Morgan Stanley to acquire enough retail banking accounts for their new classification to even matter?

I see. They'll do it the old-fashioned banking way--by acquisition.
