We just went to Costco and bought the DC14 Full Kit model (no Ball). Laura just got done vacuuming the house and picked up a truly heroic amount of grime, dog hair, etc. It's only been 3 days or so since we vacuumed last, but you'd think the house hadn't been vacuumed in months. We're quite impressed.

(Apparently the difference between this and the "Animal" model is a low profile head attachment to get underneath furniture, available for $50 aftermarket, and a carpet cleaning kit which we don't need because we've already got a steam cleaner.)

The good thing about getting old, is that you can hit the ball out of sight.

bed bath and beyond (national chain store)

they mail out 20% off coupons all the time

they also have that costco'esque  attitude on 'dont like it, bring it back for a refund - no questions asked (as long as it wasnt dropped off a building)' thing

being they are a home appliance/ furnishing store they offer more stock than costco.  with the coupons they match costco prices usually
