is it normal for your elections to be held midweek???

They are always held on the Tuesday after the first Monday of November.

First Tuesday in November in even years for US national elections.

Local elections generally follow the same pattern, though we sometimes have extra elections in spring ("primaries" to pick who will be on the ballot in Nov.) or in odd years.

Assuming a George Allen victory ( Disgusted) I predict 50-49-1 50-48-2 (forgot Lieberman was running as an independent).

I just saw Bob Bennett on TV trying to spin himself as a moderate centrist and totally abandoning ship from the divisive meanness of Tom Delay and his ilk, accusing them of acting like their majority was some sort of "god-given mandate that would never end" and he's very much looking forward to working with the democrats.

ROFL. I spend time lobbying in DC every summer and Bennett is one of my regular stops. I can guarantee that he's no centrist, and has no desire to work with any Democrat for any reason.

well, VA senate too close to call with 2-3% left to come in (50k votes) and about an 10,000 difference between the candidates.

expect the diebold machines to ensure a GOP retention ... during the re'count'
