That's interesting that they show the stats on how others have picked while you're selecting your picks. I wonder if that tends to make people go with the crowd on games where they're undecided. It would be funny to see how a Pickem player would do if they always sided with the majority. Sort of a control player that might end up beating 2/3 of us. MIA 37%-WAS 63% DET 66%-OAK 34% I don't know where they get those percentages from. They were present when I was the 1st one to submit pics.

Ah, ok, it explains the stats on the side:
"The statistics shown are the picks for all players across all office pools on CBS Sportsline that use the same setup as your pool. Therefore, if your league uses spreads, the statistics shown reflect users from other pools that also use spreads. If your pool does not use spreads, the statistics shown only use pools that also do no use spreads."
That makes sense.

Ungh. I've picked an unusually high number of road teams. That's usually a recipe for disaster.

Hmm, another theory, which I might have thrown out there last year, would be to follow the betting line every week.
Here's something worth noting. There are two games where the CBS Sportsline majority differs from the betting line. I would assume that the bookies would have the edge over the sheep, but in my case, I followed the sheep this time.
Kansas City (72%) Houston -3 (28%)
Detroit (66%) Oakland -2 (34%)

Don't the bookies just align the spread to reflect the gambling sheep's beliefs? But I bet gamblers know more about the games than a bunch of people in a free pick'em pool with no spreads. BTW, I went with the bookies.

I like this change for this year. If you miss an early Thursday game, you don't lose the entire week. Pick deadline is one hour before each day's first game. This means that you can make picks up until one hour before games in weeks that have games that start before Sunday. If there is a Thursday game, you can still make picks for Sunday's games up until one hour before kickoff, even if you missed the Thursday game deadline.
