option 2. walking is much better experience, especially around here in the fall. ride when course requires it or the course design makes it impractical to walk (grandview, for example) then again, i'm weird. i like to carry my bag rather than push/pull cart. I hate the pull/push cart. I used to use one before someone was smart enough to invent the double shoulder straps, but now I always carry. It's much easier to get to some of the god forsaken places I hit my shots when carrying instead of pulling the bag.

I like to walk in silence. Plus, it lets me keep moving when others are hitting since my clubs aren't clanking together and causing a distraction.

I don't mind the clanking but I do pause and wait for others near me to hit so I don't just clank by.

I've calculate that based on the rounds I've played this year, I've walked 900 miles. I've also calculated after said rounds I've consumed 22 gallons of beer. Therefore, I get 41 miles/gallon. Not too shabby..............

The rythmic clanking of my clubs is very soothing to me, in fact, it is the one thing that is keeping my fat ass from getting a push/pull cart.

Won't likely ever schlep a bag again. That's just how I roll.

I don't know. Sometimes? Usually not though. I usually put the cover in my pocket and put it back on the club after picking up my bag and beginning to walk. What's the point of the question?

LOL No point really. I'm terrible at keeping my clubs clean. Just wondered if pepople that put covers on their irons were more apt/militant about it.

I'm semi-militant about keeping them clean off the course. Since I play at regular intervals (once a week, usually) part of my routine is to come home from golf, put on some sports, have a beer, clean my clubs. On the course I don't care, but since they're usually clean at the start of the round they usually don't get very dirty. If there is dirt in the grooves I'll get it out, otherwise I don't give it a thought.

I try to walk whenever possible. I've had cashiers in the pro shop and playing partners look at me like I'm from Mars when I say I'm still going to walk even though the cart was included in the green fee.
Some course layouts piss me off, though. If I'm the only one walking and the other three are in a cart, I hate when I have to sprint between holes that have huge distances between them just to catch up.
Also, places with multiple courses or three sets of nines can be a pain. Sometimes it's a serious hike at the turn or to the range.

Bad course routings are a walker's nightmare, although if I'm paired up with riders I'm never shy about hitching a ride when there is a long stretch between holes. It's amazing how little your feet hurt when walking 275 yards to a nice drive while that same distance to a tee box is murder.
