You only got 18k miles out of tires on a Civic?
well, i do like to make the car move.... but mainly...
i hit a nasty pothole on the freeway the other day around 75mph and 1 tire was extremely f'd up (visible bulge once wheel removed) and another was determined by the tech to have a less pronounced problem slightly shifted belt. so I was down for 2 for peace of mind, no matter what. since the other 2 were at half original tread, i just said *fiddlesticks*it and got a real set because i really dont like the idea of a 1/2 worn and 1/2 new set
in a way, maybe i'm lucky to have discovered it now. by having the real trouble one rotated to the front and discovering the issue, whereas i hadn't observed it when it was a rear wheel.... maybe i avoided a blowout and potential severe accident
unfortunately, i could have swore i bought a road hazard plan, but i couldn't find any documentation proving it... either i didn't, or i did and totally lost it. there's no way i would put it in a wrong folder, im pretty a.r. about important paperwork like that .
on the bright side, it completely cemented my decision to keep the car for at least the near term.
just got back from store with these
ride very nice, and quiet. definitely a step up from what came on it out of the factory.
http://tires.costco.com/T...eDetails.xhtml?cid=660433wasn't exactly pleased to be dumping that much $ today, and not that I necessarily wanted that nice a tire... but the only others they had in stock in the right size were bf goodrich with 45k warranty.
factor in that i plan to abuse that lifetime free rotation and balancing.... i guess i can live with the extra 40/tire since that seems to cost $50 nowadays
