I looked around and I'm not crazy about most of the java applet-based chat options since that's probably related to the current problems, so I'm going to try adding an AJAX/php style chat this weekend.

yeah, I found it through an old article that said it was $40, but it looks like he's changed the licensing since then.
It looks pretty funny, I'll tinker with it this weekend.
