What a sucker!! LOL!! You just fell for the oldest trick in the Official In-Law/Grandparent Operations Manual, 2nd edition, Harper Collins. Chapt 2: Stretching Gift Value, page 37: You can immediately DOUBLE the value of any giftcard you receive from your children by using it to purchase a nice meal, and then calling to inform them that the restaurant did not accept the giftcard. Your children, especially any guilty-minded son-in-laws, will forward a reimbursement for your expense. To TRIPLE the value of your gift card, use it to purchase a valuable commodity, perform the same 'did not accept card' call to the children, and then sell the item on eBay or at your next yardsale. |

I suppose you are now thinking of all the other incidents that have happened over the years!!!!!
Well, now that you mention it, I did invest with him pretty heavily on an offshore snipe reserve. Long term investment he said. In fact how did he put it? This is so long term, you should forget you're doing this. I hope it pans out for his sake, though because he had no money to put up for it. We used all mine. |
