Is that per bottle? No, I don't drink wine. I just wanted to chime in. 6-7 total monthly spent on being able to cope with life.

I'll say that it would have to be a Big Deal before I'd spend more than $20 on a bottle of wine. My absolute max would be something like $50 for wine, and it better be (a) an occasion and (b) damn good wine.

I don't like spending big bucks on consumables or transient gifts, unless there's some memory or shared experience to be had. I.e., we just wouldn't find it memorable drinking an $80 bottle of wine.

Yes, they do ... at law firms. The quotas range from 1600 to 1950 at the firms I'm familiar with. And some of them are happy to see numbers ABOVE 1950. Most I've ever heard of for IP attorneys is about 1900. That's still working A LOT.

I guess I once paid a shade over 3% for one bottle of wine. Put in those terms it seems totally obscene. (It was really good though).

A store up the street has a wall where they show 'special selections' from their sommelier, who's taste I'm learning to trust. Stuff near the floor on this wall is sold ~$20, whereas stuff on the upper shelves is in the $100+ range.
I've been working myself up from the floor, and beginning to resonate with a bunch of stuff they are offering at about waste high, in the $30-$50 range.

I like Rosemont Estates, also. Their Shiraz and their shiraz-cab are great. I'm not too fond of their Chard, but I'm coming around to it. For an inexpensive Aussie Chard, I like Banrock Station. Little to no oak. The Lindemans Pinot is surprisingly good for the price. 1999 to 2002 vintage is really nice.
Nice choices there...
