Threat level orange
« on: May 03, 2007, 06:32:22 PM »

I had a little business trip this week to Virginia and something hit me the other day as I was entering the Minneapolis-St. Paul International airport.

I had no idea where Threat Level = Orange ranks on the rainbow of terror.

Seriously, I travel a number of times per year and pass the sign on every trip. I remember seeing it every time (it's large) but this time was different because I realized I had forgotten the colored levels of terror. I had to look up our special color code system to see if I should have been relaxin' or *feces*tin' my pants.

It was at that time I yearned for a simple 1-5 or 1-10 scale if that's what we need to remind us to maybe call someone if we see a dude carrying a surface to air missile on the side of a road near an airport.

It's all good now though. Thanks to teh internets, once again I have safely tucked away in my little brain the threat level color codes.

I have always wondered why blue is ahead of green.  All through school, they drill into our head the order of the rainbow.  But then then code the threat level against it with the green being after the blue?  To me, that's what makes it a bit more difficult to remember.  And isn't blue often a symbol of cold?  Then why is green the "coldest" on the threat level?

Bigger, and with more peel left on it, in my experience.

Honestly, they've been accused of bumping it for political reasons so many times that I don't even pay attention to it anymore.  If something really dangerous is afoot, I'll hear about it and can act scared then.

Exactly. I realized I had no idea because I just don't pay attention to it anymore.

That, and I'm personally on high alert at all times.  Tongue

I forget...

Is this the 'buy a helmet' phase, or the 'put on the damn helmet' phase?

Is there a 'Condition Brown (Hide) Helmet Phase' which would cover spacey's continuing alert status?
