Might be something to these Finau kids...

Not sure if Spacey or I have posted about these guys before.  Some story.  Absolute stars at the amateur level around here.  They turned pro a month ago for that Wynn Million Dollar challenge and Tony went deep.  Now this...

I've been worried for them, thinking that perhaps we might have two Ty Tryon stories in the making but Tony at least seems to be the real deal.  Keep yours eyes open, they could something.

Plus BYU golfer Daniel Summerhayes (yes, he's related) became the first amateur to win a Nationwide Tour event last week.

Good year for Utah amateur golf.

There are enough of them (about 1 in 3 kids at my high school was a Finau) that I think statistics are in their favor.

Good luck to them. I've always been amazed there haven't been more kids foregoing college to turn pro with the $'s out there but maybe Tryon was a big red flag.

I haven't heard about them before this - have they done a lot of national amateur tournaments??

Have no idea about their national records but between them they have a state am, a U.S. junior Ryder Cup spot and some Nationwide events including youngest to ever make the cut.  All while in their mid-teens.

75 to 65 and a made cut.  Not too shabby.  It's a weak field of course but there are some big names on the other side of the line - including defending champion Corey Pavin.

Leading the field in driving distance at 17 years old.  LOL.

Piece coming up on TGC about him soon (currently 6:09 mountain).

I think I'm alone now.
